Alma Brown joined the Beyond Vision team in 2010 working at the Base Supply Center in U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command in Warren, Michigan. Alma has persevered through many of life’s obstacles to get to where she is today and she has plans to continually better herself.
Alma was born with congenital glaucoma. Throughout her life she has adapted to living with low vision. To make things more difficult, she recently underwent surgery to remove her left eye which was affected by a cancerous tumor. Once again, she did not allow low vision to hold her back. She has since returned to work and always delivers 110 percent when given a particular assignment. Her co-workers have coined the phrase, “the Alma touch,” referring to times when employees go above and beyond.
“One of the most rewarding things about my job is the challenges I am presented with on a day-to-day basis,” said Brown. “I like trying to come up with new ideas to generate business.”
A single mother of two young children, Brown is expecting to graduate next year from the University of Phoenix in Southfield, Michigan, with a B.S. in business management and criminal justice. Brown hopes to use her education to take on more challenging marketing and business functions at Beyond Vision.
