Kerlin Announces Retirement from Beyond Vision –
Milwaukee, WI. February 5, 2024: After nearly two decades of service to the blindness community, James Kerlin has announced plans to retire from his role as President and CEO of Beyond Vision this summer.
Prior to joining Beyond Vision, Kerlin built a strong background in manufacturing, business management and engineering at various companies including consulting and running his own business.
“Jim’s been a great leader over the past 18 years and he will be greatly missed by employees and associates,” said Mike Chew, Chair of Beyond Vision’s Board of Directors.
Kerlin took the position in 2007. During his tenure, the organization has experienced great growth and many changes. Most recently with the organization’s move to the VisABILITY Center in 2022.
“We are currently looking for a new President/CEO,” said Chew. “Someone who will make a smooth transition and will continue the growth of Beyond Vision’s mission.”
“My father lost his sight about 8 years before he passed. Losing his sight pushed him into depression. My stepfather was blinded in WWII by a sniper bullet in Guam. Blindness knows no bounds. It cares not about race, gender, ethnic origin, or background. Without doubt, leading Beyond Vision for the last 18 years has been the best job of my life. It has been an honor. To those that take this torch…Please continue the fight for the mission and make the mission first in all decisions.” – Jim Kerlin
