February is Low Vision Awareness Month

Vision impairments really do come in all shapes and severities. Low vision is any form of visual impairment that cannot be corrected by eyeglasses, contact lenses, medication, or surgery. Having low vision can make activities like driving, identifying faces, reading, shopping, cooking, and physical navigation difficult to accomplish.

There are hundreds of causes and forms of low vision and vision loss. Millions of Americans are impacted by in various ways by low vision.  The consequences of vision loss may leave people feeling anxious, scared, or even helpless. It is important to understand the various ways you can improve your quality of life.
