Career Opportunities
Beyond Vision is excited to have created several professional career opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill open positions at Beyond Vision.
Please check HERE for details on these exciting career opportunities. Beyond Vision’s mission is to provide employment opportunities for people who are blind or visually impaired. We promote the hiring of individuals who fulfill our mission at all levels of our organization including professional positions. Finding qualified visually impaired candidates is a priority, but all candidates who are qualified for the positions are encouraged to apply.
Computer Training Develops Future Leaders
At Beyond Vision, we believe in the capabilities of each and every one of our dedicated employees. Many employees (such as Jackie pictured below) have limited exposure to computers due to their vision challenges.
Earlier this year, we partnered with our friends at Vision Forward to administer computer literacy skills training classes for employees who showed an interest in learning the complexities of navigating the world of computers without the use of their sight. The innovative computer skills course is designed specifically for people, like Jackie, who are blind. Jackie and other participants in the course have demonstrated they possess the essential qualities needed to become future leaders at Beyond Vision, but lack the computer skills necessary to take on these types of roles within the company.
Funded by the generosity of individuals like you, upwardly mobile employees such as Jackie are gaining the skillsets allowing them to take on leadership roles within our organization.
Shot in the Dark
This past September, more than 100 golfers and volunteers gathered at Silver Spring Golf Club to take a “shot in the Dark” during our first ever fundraising event. Our guests were first treated to a welcome reception with horderves and cocktails. Then the participants were given flashlights, glow in the dark golf balls and glow sticks before taking to the course moments before sundown. A team scramble began during daylight, but after a few holes the sun went down and the glow in the dark golf balls came out! The unique Shot in the Dark event is designed to give players a small glimpse of what it’s like to be blind or visually impaired, and also to have fun on and off the course!
A special thanks to our sponsors, volunteers and guests who helped make this first annual event a huge success. All of the proceeds from the event support the employment of and job skills training of people who are blind or visually impaired. Thank you all and we look forward to growing the event next year!
